‘chase THE hertz (체이스 더 헤르츠)’ [비커에 세상을 담아]

우리는 모두 광활한 우주 한가운데에 놓인
창백한 푸른 점(Pale Blue Dot) 그 이상 그 이하도 아닌,
태양 빛 속에 부유하는 먼지 티끌 위에서 삶과 죽음,
지배를 당하고, 정복을 당하고, 증오를 표출하고, 잔혹성을 내보이며 살아가고 있다.
고작 푸른 먼지 티끌 위에서 말이다.

비커 속에 검은 액체 안에 알알이 박혀진 별들과 지구를 담아서, 거꾸로 쏟게 되면
우리는 그제야 무(無)로 되돌아갈 수 있을까?

자그마한 푸른 무대 위에서 각자의 역할극을 하며 살아가는
우리 삶은 결국 나에겐 비극이고 상대방이 바라볼 때에는 희극일 뿐이다.
그렇게 희극과 비극은 우리 주변을 공전하며 돌아가고 있다.

칼 세이건 (Carl Sagan)의 1994 년작,
‘창백한 푸른 점 (Pale Blue Dot)’ 에서 컨셉 아이디어를 채용하였습니다.
